Juan J. "JJ" De Abreu – Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. De Abreu co-founded Prime-Star Asset Management in 2008 and is its chief executive officer and co-portfolio manager. He oversees the Firm's portfolio investment strategy and business development activities and provides strategic direction and leadership to all aspects of the organization. Mr. De Abreu brings over 10 years of industry experience in asset management, risk management, financial markets, and commercial banking in the United States and Latin America. He previously served as an equity and fixed-income analyst at Forum Asset Management, a Global Macro and Emerging Market Distress Debt hedge fund in New York City. He created the syndicated loan and hedging derivatives desks at Ocean Bank in Miami, Florida. As a credit officer, he oversaw a commercial real estate loan portfolio north of $125MM. Mr. De Abreu holds an MBA from Fordham University, honors, and a BS in Economics from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello.
Francisco J. Gonzalez – Co-Founder, Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Gonzalez co-founded Prime-Star Asset Management in 2008 and acts as chief investment officer and co-portfolio manager. He leads the firm in the creation, development, and implementation of the Firm's investment strategies. He brings over 11 years of experience in the financial markets, particularly in derivatives, portfolio construction, and risk management. Before founding Prime-Star Enterprises, Mr. Gonzalez served in the areas of Portfolio and Credit Risk Management for Ocean Bank in Miami, Florida, overseeing a commercial loan portfolio of $120MM. Accomplishments during his tenure at Ocean Bank included creating and developing stress test models to satisfy new banking regulations and developing Monte Carlo models as part of an effort to bring a probabilistic approach to the credit underwriting process for commercial loans. Mr. Gonzalez holds a BS in Business Administration with a Finance and Real Estate concentration from Florida International University.
